Day 23 - Lobster and a Leisurely Day on the Island
What a day. Sleeping late and thoroughly revelling in our bed and breakfast accommodation. Our host couple presented us with an array of international (and healthy) breakfast choices that were simply staggering. And despite the threat of rain we ventured off to find out more about this island that it is difficult not to love. Very clean with seemingly freshly-painted homes with manicured lawns, the whole island looks like a set for an Anne of Green Gables shoot (more about that part of the island later). It was enjoyable just to ride with Renae and share the beauty of this pastoral paradise, which seems to thrive on its spot as a tourist destination, but not in a crass or contrived way (except the Anne of Green Gables area - not the house itself seen below), but totally natural.
Lunch at a renovated railway station (the railway was abandoned here in the 1980s) and we finished our tour. But before the day was over we ventured to the New Glasgow Lobster Supper. Extraordinary! All the chowder (delicious), mussels (we managed to down a big bucket between us), salad and dessert bracketed the fresh one pound lobster. Stuffed. But happy.
